IWD 2026: Nine women who have shaped the investment industry
City Hive’s co-CEO Bev Shah was named in this Investment Week article on the women who have been shaping the investment industry.
The article says Bev has been a leading light in campaigning for more diversity and inclusion, unafraid to challenge the industry. Ahead of her award, she was praised for calling out leaders for greenwashing on D&I.
Now founder and co-chief executive of City Hive, an independent think tank focused on culture, governance and stewardship, this spotlight continues. She is one of the architects of ACT, the corporate culture standard for investment companies, now widely used to identify and mitigate corporate behaviour risk and strengthen long-term decision-making across the sector.
Giving advice to younger women, Bev said: “Think long term - about capital and about your career. You don’t need to resemble those who came before you to outperform them, and you don’t need to clear a higher bar than everyone else in the room.
“Find your friends in the industry - the ones you trust enough to be in a WhatsApp group with. That’s often where the real support and the most honest advice live. Over time, you’ll find you’re moving forward together. And, using the language of my children, bring a bit of “main character energy” to whatever you do. You’re not a background character in someone else’s story.”
